A comprehensive refurbishment and extension to a former school building located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

 

The aspiration for the project was to transforming the existing dilapidated building into an energy efficient holiday let facility which has the original hall reinstated as the most prominent feature set within the landscape. The hall has been reconfigured to provide an open plan living area which has a new timber framed garden room attached to the front embracing the outstanding views towards the Moors.

 

Due to the small nature of the site some of the accommodation is located within the roof space of the hall with a new 'floating' box suspended over the kitchen providing a sense of drama to the space. A new charred timber clad bedroom block is set back from the original building making it subservient.
